College World Series: Watch Texas Tech's Grant Little, Florida's Austin Langworthy trade web gems in LF
Florida and Texas Tech put everything on the line in the College World Series as they fought to keep their seasons alive.
The Gators and Red Raiders first met in Game 1 of the CWS on Sunday with Texas Tech claiming the 6-3 victory. Just four days later, the two squared off again in a Thursday night elimination game, where both teams traded stunning catches in left field.
First, in a scoreless game in the top of the third, Florida's Deacon Liput smacked a deep drive to left field where Little robbed Liput of an extra base hit on a leaping grab before smashing into the fence, keeping the game tied.
After the stellar play from Little, Florida's Austin Langworthy wanted in on the action. Texas Tech had runners on first and second trailing by one in the bottom of the fourth inning when a shallow fly ball was hit into left field. Langworthy turned on the jets to make an incredible diving catch, before throwing back to second base to complete an inning-ending double play.
Florida's bats later came to life, scoring four combined runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Texas Tech then scored six in the seventh and eighth innings to push the Gators, but Florida held on for a 9-6 victory to eliminate the Red Raiders. Florida will now face SEC foe Arkansas at 8 p.m. ET Friday.
